Mommy & Me
A smart communication system between new mothers and their infants, employing advanced AI analysis to translate baby’s sounds into clear, actionable insights, helping mothers understand the baby’s needs and minimize stress inflicted during alerts.
Key features
AI Cry Analysis: Camera/mic detects cries, analysed by TensorFlow on ESP32 (92.5% accuracy, Ubenwa-style), identifies needs (e.g., Hungry, Pain).
Real-Time Notifications: Wi-Fi (20 Mbps, as discussed previously) ensures fast alerts (75ms latency) via FastAPI to the app, supporting video streaming (720p). Mom can monitor the baby anytime, anywhere!
Status Illustrations: Shows baby’s state (Sleeping, Crying, Awake) with sunflower icons, reducing guesswork
Awards System: Tracks achievements, boosting mom's confidence

Prototyping Journey
Starting with Safety and Stability
When designing a baby care product, the goal was to create a stable baby clamp that could securely attach to a chair, bed, or closet. Our team focused on strong stabilization for safety but soon realized the design wasn’t practical for busy moms. Handling the components was tricky, especially for parents managing tasks one-handed. It was clear the product needed to be more user-friendly.

A Turn to Simplicity
To make the product mom-friendly, we replaced the original components with a smoother system. Instead of traditional clips, we adopted MagSafe technology for effortless attachment and detachment—perfect for on-the-go moms. Our team also simplified the app’s UI by placing all key features on the homepage for easy access, reducing complexity and enhancing usability.

A Flower-Inspired Design
To create a comforting and cohesive product line, we turned to a flower theme. Our sunflower logo set the tone, and used soft fabrics and flower-inspired shapes for the product’s design. The app mirrors this charm with a warm yellow color scheme, fostering a calming and inviting experience for moms.

Building Trust & Connection
Supporting moms goes beyond functionality—it’s about trust. The app begins by asking thoughtful questions to tailor the experience, showing moms they’re not alone. Features like awards, a diary, and a “link account” option connect families and celebrate the mom’s efforts. A course system also provides easy access to parenting resources.

Gentle Notifications
We designed the notification system to be supportive, not overwhelming. Through the app or a wristband, moms receive timely, gentle updates—offering warm encouragement without stress. Alerts ensure that moms are informed when their baby needs attention, creating a balance between reassurance and practicality.

A Journey of Care
This journey has been about listening and adapting. From improving the clamp to adopting a flower-inspired design and trust-building features, every change was made to simplify and support moms. The result is a product that meets practical needs while comforting and empowering the incredible moms who use it.
